Now….for some shopping news. Chic Envy has an excellent condition, Limited Edition Louis Vuitton aubergine (plum) Onatah handbag pictured below. Our price is $1100. New, this bag was around $2000. The owner had Louis Vuitton put a new strap on it and restore it to excellent condition. Here is a brief description of the bag from the web: Exceptionally supple calfskin leather dyed throughout and then drummed to softly pull up the grain. Minutely detailed perforation technique is used to draw the Monogram pattern; three different perforation diameters. Tinted cowhide leather trim. Brass hardware with golden patina finish. Tiffany…always classy! I was going to give you a tidbit of Tiffany history, but instead I thought I would give you my personal story. I remember going to NYC when I was a little girl, I think 8th grade. I was walking past Tiffany and stopped. I did not know anything about the iconic store. My hand swept across the marble granite outside and I looked in the window and said,”Whoa… I like this place!” My field trip group went ahead of me and I was lost for a few minutes. That was my first dream about spending the night in a department store. In recent years, I have had the luxury of shopping around the country on business trips with my best friend Joyce. We found that Tiffany was a metal that attracted the magnetic strips on our credit cards. We always found something fun and sensible to buy at each Tiffany we found and enjoyed swinging around that Tiffany Blue bag all the way home. New Home for Chic Envy
Chic Envy’s new address in Fairfax Corner is 11895 Grand Commons Avenue, Fairfax, VA 22030. We are located across from Ozzie’s, the new Italian restaurant in Fairfax Corners that is very popular. Let me recommend the Crazy Lasagna! We are between Lucy’s (yoga wear) and Il Vino (Ciao Massimo!) You see the bright green awnings? That is us….Chic Envy. Just think…..green with envy/green awnings and you will find us. Check it out. The ceiling is blue for the sky and we even have clouds adorning the ceiling. The green posts are (who knows) the topiaries. The green carpet is the grass. This used to be the Tree Top Toy store, so we are rolling with it.
Can I cry??!! One of our lovely consignors brought in 22 handbags the other day. Gorgeous and still in the sleepers, these handbags are waiting for mommies. Come and get them! My favorite is the purple Michael Kors. You say….OMG purple! I say…Yes, this handbag will go with almost every outfit you have and you will love it. Fairfax Runway, Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B.
The Fairfax Corner fashion show was a big hit for Chic Envy. Our two star models were the talk of the town. Maya and Jack wore Le Petite Chic Envy clothes by Janie and Jack, Burberry, Gymboree, and Coach. Jack’s premier as a model will be sure to get him an agent. He knew just how to stop, turn, and work the crowd. Maya is our favorite petite shopper. She got the crowd cheering her name to coach her on the catwalk. So sweet. Thanks kiddos!
Saturday’s visit from our family in New Jersey brought the smell of STAR PIZZA into the store. (The best pizza in the world!) Of course we had to check out Ozzies Italian Corner to test the authenticity of Italian food and atmosphere. We all gave it thumbs up. Come to Fairfax Corner and check out Ozzie’s. The Crazy Lasagna was fresh and they have this awesome dessert made from prunes (yes, prunes!) , marscapone and pecans. I want it for breakfast! I can’t even tell you what my family ordered because my face was so in my food! I can tell you that if the food was shy of perfect, my family would be the one to say something. We all had a great time and a superb dining experience. Next, off to Il Vino’s for wine shopping, Aerosoles because I made everyone walk around the whole shopping center, Caribou Coffee for espresso, and back to Chic Envy! Fairfax Corner offers great shopping and dining!
What is new at Chic Envy? This has been a great consigning week. Amazing coats, shoes, handbags and clothing are coming in for the Fall season. Boots? Oh man do we have boots. I just listed a pair of black, leather Celine boots for $110. They were originally $600 and are in excellent, almost new condition. Let us spotlight Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. fashion collection. Gwen can sing, dance, be her fabulous unique self AND design some pretty cool clothing, shoes, and handbags. I love that her look is fun and daring. It breaks the mold of predictible fashion and her line goes against the grain of what we think we may look good wearing. So wear it! What’s wrong with us??!! Did I mention?? Rhianna and I have been invited to be part of a special audience at The Martha Stewart Show on Monday!! The phone call was so thrilling for us. We may be chosen to actually talk about what we are wearing. That of course, is our big hope. I will take pictures and keep you posted on what we wore after the taping. Rock Chic!
Nanette Lepore is my favorite designer for about 10 years now. Every time, every single blessed time, that I wear one of her designs, I get compliments. Today, with my daughters out of the Abercrombie phases of their lives, they love Nanette too. Have I created mini-me fashionistas? At the Bon Jovi concert (I love Jon Bon Jovi second to Rob Thomas) (oops I mean third after my husband and RT), we said “Let’s wear Nanette!” We have worn Nanette Lepore to Yankee games, to the Jersey Boys on Broadway, Stampin’ Up! award events, dinners, weddings, showers, to the mall, vacations…well, you get the picture….I am a huge fan. Why? There is a feminine, chic, rocker chick look (many say Bohemian flare), and such great color in her fabrics. It is like wearing art!
When Nanette Lepore designs come in to Chic Envy, I get so excited and I sell them fast. If you’re impressed with something, you can sell it! Come in and look at the designer labels in Chic Envy. Chic Envy in Fairfax Corner is in such a multi-cultural area, so there is quite an array of designer labels at our store. Yesterday, a consignor brought in a long, black leather coat with white fur trim and a long black a-frame coat both from Paris. Tres Chic! Chic Envy roll call: Burberry from London?…present! What a great roll call!
Let’s talk about how chic it is to wear your jeans with a colorful blazer or sweater. I bought a CAbi sweater because I first saw the model wearing it in there catalog over jeans. Drape long chain necklaces. This look came in last year and has stayed for this autumn and winter season. The polished look is very 2010 Chanel, my version anyway. The new Chanel ads use a lot of faux fur and that famous chunky knit. J Crew jumped on board with more affordable prices. Chic Envy has each of these looks for so much less. This is a NEW with tags (obviously in the picture) ST. JOHN blazer. The size is 2, it fits nicely on most 4s as well. This originally cost over $1000 at Neiman Marcus. It is 1/3rd her at Chic Envy. THIS would look totally amazing with the matching skirt that comes with it OR some ROCK & REPUBLIC jeans and boots. Yes, that is right…..ST. JOHN can be rock chic and euro chic. With riding boots…Classic American chic. Look at the ST. JOHN ads in any high fashion magazine. Angelina Jolie is one of their celebrity modles. Julienne Moore, the actress, is also their model. Every ad I see her wearing ST. JOHNs makes me wish I was a tall, thin, redhead. That isn’t going to happen, but I can rock the look! You can too! 
Bringing in the Tweed

They say “Clothes do not make a man.” But I say they do make a women…….happy! Chic Envy has had it’s best month ever. That is right! Say it like Oprah! August was our best month EVER! Thanks to our wonderful consignors and our treasured customers, Chic Envy was able to put a great deal of money back into the community. Now THAT is stimulating the economy!
That being said (an overused phrase I don’t like so why did I type it??)…..Chic Envy’s summer stock is shrinking (as in “being sold”) but you can find great Lilly Pulitzer and cottony J.Crew clothes on our “pink dot” sale for 20% off the markdown. I am a true blue Yankee! This heat and me…..well, we do not get along. I don’t even want to go and get my mail. Not because I am lazy, but because I have a frizzy hair style by the time I get back to the house. I welcome Autumn. Tweeds, cashmere, Diane Keaton turtlenecks, boots, hats, warm drinks, holiday celebrations, Rob Thomas….everything that the fall and winter season has to offer….I bask in it. But, let me wake up. It is still Africa-hot out here in Virginia. You will style summer-wear for plenty more weeks ahead and you should really come in and take advantage of our summer sale. We open our books on the 25th of the month to set appointments for the next month. We fill up in about 5 days and then start a waiting list. This helps us pace our inventory and prevents appointments being made so far in advance that you forget about it. Chic Envy has a list of items that we accept and do not accept on our web site. We are looking for current, designer items that have been gently used or may still have the tags on them. We have a great respect for womankind and the need to clean house, however, we cannot accept old prom dresses, bridesmaids dresses or items that have been discovered hiding in the back of your closet for years.
Chic Envy works with our consignors to set a starting price and then the customers determine when they should buy it. After the first markdown? Maybe! Or maybe customers do not want to risk a certain item not being in the store and so it sells immediately. Some items sell at the third and final markdown and incredibly low prices. A true bargain worthy of awarding bragging rights!

Can you even find that Yellow in the stores? I think it will be hard, but we have it here at Chic Envy. It is the most popular bag in the store right now. It gets compliments all day, every day. It takes walks around the store so it can see itself in the mirrors. Talk about Chic Envy!! The owner of this bag will get so many compliments and WOWs and may I add…. a few trips on the sidewalk from passers-by. Here is my Shoppers Math…for your work of art that you get to carry around, buy it now (Visa/MasterCard/Discover/AmEx) and pay only $167 on your bill each month for 6 months and the handbag is paid off! (I guess those AmEx people want the money all at once…..so think of your POINTS!!) Still too high?? Shoppers Math: $3 a day for a year! That is like giving up overpriced, to-go coffee for a while. We can march to the beat of our own drums at Chic Envy and go with the flow on what we have on our mannequins. I am one of those shoppers that hate when the tweed is out in the stores in August. Come on! Really?? And, when I want a bathing suit, why do retail stores get out of stock in June? For this reason, Chic Envy has Summer Chic in the window and you can find items to wear now throughout the warm weeks ahead.

The gowns at Chic Envy are gorgeous. Brides-to-be…come and check out what we have at Chic Envy. Bring your family and girl friends. Call for sole access in the boutique. Now through September, all wedding gowns are 20% off. (That is from an already reduced price.) Each gown is in new condition and all come from the cleaners. There are several that are brand new. My favorite is an off white gown with sophisticated cording and a Grace Kelly neckline. There is a matching veil. If I were to get married again, this would be my choice. Chances are, if you come in, I will show this to you first because I love it. Each gown is so pretty. Here are a couple to show you!

Why buy a wedding gown at a consignment store? Because you can wear a fabulous gown without paying full price. Certainly, beside the new gowns, these gowns were worn once! Ladies today are saying, I want to save money for my honeymoon or apartment. The consignors are saying the same thing. It make sense with this economy also. But, see the pictures?? Yes those are Manolo Blahniks, Stuart Weitzmans, and Kate Spades. Being cost conscience doesn’t mean you have to spare style.
I just have to show off this Dolce & Gabana dress again. Second wedding? Wedding on location? This dress is size 6 and is tres chic! Great shoes to match! Come in and see!
Here is a new L.A.M.B. handbag, Gwen Stefani’s line standing for Love Angel Music Baby. Really….that is what it stands for! There is a new velvet scarf from Neiman Marcus (in box) that matches this handbag so great, we put it next to each other. Awesome fall colors. The orange Christian Louboutin flats (yes they have a delicious red bottom which is a Louboutin signature. Be sure to somehow show off that red bottom even if it means walking into a crowd and checking the back of your heel as if …oops, did I step on something!? But to do this stylishly, you have to look down over the back of your right shoulder and kick your right heel up. Cover your mouth softly with your left hand and pucker. Don’t repeat this in the same location or someone envious will catch on and call you out. Ditto with the Burberry flats and the great Nova Check bottom.

Jimmy Choo designed his first shoe when he was 11 years old. As a Mom, I would say, “Sweetie, mommy needs a new pair of shoes for breakfast,lunch, and dinner.” Seriously, could you imagine??!! Chic Envy has Jimmy Choo heels for sale and the gorgeous large Sky Snakeskin & Leather tote in autumn yellow. Nanette Lepore is one of my favorite designers. Everytime I wear one of her designs, I get stopped and complimented. Her style is Chic Bohemian. Her sizes are consistent. Once you know your NL size, you can pretty much purchase without trying it on and still be happy. The detail in her work makes me wonder why her prices aren’t much higher like some of the top designers. There are intricate beading, unique buttons, and are made with phenominal materials. Many of her pants and tops sell for over $300 and her coats sell in the $500 range at the high end department stores. At Chic Envy you will find a lot of very nice Nanette Lepore items for under $100.
